Where were you born, where do you live now, any other background info?
I was born and raised in Manchester, England. I currently reside in the North West of England . I have been developing my photography for the past 5 years now, but my background has always involved art in every form. I am a member of a band named The Stand (Hence the Tag). Feel free to have a listen at www.thestanduk.co.uk.
How would you describe your work?
I try to create feelings and moods with my work. I love to use light as a way of doing this. I appreciate nature and find beauty in all things. Photography, like music, has allowed me to express my passions and feelings to others. I would describe my work as Expressive Photography.
What processes and techniques do you use to create your work?
I always try to keep as much of the original shot as is. I use Adobe Photoshop Elements for PP, however, this is mainly to adjust brightness and levels if required. I use a Panasonic Lumix FZ38. Various filters are used to create color and BW images. The most important technique in photography is what I and many call ” A Good Eye”. You can study the medium all your life, but your artistic perception of life will always shine through. Once you have learned the fundamentals of a cameras function, you must allow yourself to see beauty to capture it.
Are you a full time artist?
I’m a full time care worker by profession, which acts as the means for me to be a full time artist.
How did you get started?
I loved drawing, painting, music and creating from a very early age. My father bought me a Fender Stratocaster when I was 11. Ever since I can remember I have created art. Photography was just a natural progression for me.
Any notable accomplishments?
All the memories I have along the way and all the people who have enjoyed my work. They are my biggest accomplishment so far.
