Have you all been reading the comments down in the last post in response for new site ideas?  I am really amazed at how good some of these are.  It will be hard to decide what to implement first. We’ll rely on you to tell us!  Keep the ideas coming. We’ll probably choose next week!

    Hello!

First of I love your site! It is wonderful!
I do not quite understand it yet as I could not find my work in the section that I thought it would be in so I will have to be sure I am correctly listing.
Given some time I am sure I will get up to speed!

    As for suggestions:
The canvas option does not seem to appear on many of the art for sale.
My clients have always had a preference for canvas and so I suggest it always be an option :)

    Thanks!

hello, i’d be psyched if imagekind had a functionality that enabled me to select a frame/mat/glass/paper combination once, set it as the gallery’s default choice for all images uploaded into that gallery.

I think it would be great to able to say pick out an area of our painting so like a 2inch by 2inch area… so you can zoom in on the painting for detail. I’ve seen this feature on other sites… I think this will help in the buying decision for buyers.

    just my 2 cents..

    I have 2 suggestions.

I’d like to see one report that shows all the views for each of my images at once, instead of having to click on each image to see its views.

How cool if when you mouse over an image, the enlarged view appears. That would save the viewer several steps in inspecting an image right when they’re looking at it.

Okay, how about having an area to enter themed contest monthly and at the end of the year Imagekind makes small promotional calendar for the following year of all of the first place submissions. This promotional calendar will be free and distributed to large corporations interior designers, hotels, restaurants etc. The calendars can also be available to purchase on Imagekind perhaps in a larger format.

    Malone’s masterpieces ideas:
POTENTIAL BUYERS should have a button available next to the picture for them to click and leave a comment or suggestion WHY they WON’T buy or aren’t interested in that particular item. (Don’t you wanna know?) The buyers are our SOLE EVALUATORS of the members works, NOT the members themselves. The customers’ FEEDBACK will educate the artist as to what the BUYING public wants and don’t want. This will be a private and personal action that ONLY the artist will see. Statements such as: “The picture is wrong size; crazy colors; too somber; crude; Integrate it; Maybe next week; ” or the like. And members saying that they are “Self taught”, perhaps doesn’t help members’ approval rating, either. They should revisit their bio’s. ( As applying for a real job, if it doesn’t come up, don’t mention it.)
“ADMIRATION SOCIETY” comments, pictures, or names of other artists on members’ pages are not a plus at all! This should be revisited. Hearing remarks, good or bad, I much rather hear these from a BUYER so I can be a better asset to imagekind. When the customer “hits” on my work but I “miss” on his money, I wanna know what’s on his mind.
Another point: The listing of photographs as ART is perhaps confusing to buyers. Photographs are PHOTOGRAPHERS and fine art is ARTISTS. There TWO destinct disciplines and crafts people.
A reminder: Publicizing sales revenues are not a morale booster for all of the members.
Last, but not least, MAT framing ALWAYS should be cut an inch or more higher at the BOTTOM of the picture. The way you have it now is completely square all around. (Right?)
In other words, a mat on an 8″X10″ picture is six inches wide by eight and one half high. The amount can fluctate,
but always with the bottom being MORE than the top and the sides, which are always the same.
    Nuff said.
    HAPPY
    HOLIDAYS
    to one AND ALL.

What is “art”? In Plato’s Republic, the great thinker said that there was no such thing as “art”- only mere imitations of the true reality of a form. I happen to disagree with him. I also disagree that a photographer’s work should not be categorized as fine art or as an artist. Photography is the art of manipulating light. Just as a painter manipulates paints on a canvas or a sculptor a piece of marble. Art can take on many forms. Buyers of art are intelligent people and most can figure out looking at the piece itself what medium was used. If not ImageKind, has provided and encourages the artist to educate the audience about their work. My main recommendation to ImageKind is to fix the issue of categorizing the work so that if someone wants to purchase a particular medium all the options are available. When I have gone in to re-edit the image details in my galleries the box I have selected has times been cleared. This happens most frequently to images I have uploaded using FTP.

I do love the idea of getting feedback from potential buyers. Knowing exactly what is on their mind when they look at my work will only help me produce more sellable works for myself and ImageKind.

I have a question and a suggestion. I am here in the forum reading and getting to know the website a little more. I had just finished with all the reading and wanted to go back to imagekind main home page but I cannot do it from here. I must likely have to close this window and again type the imagekind url so I can get back to the main page. Would it be possible to have a link that would take me back to the Main page without exiting the site itself? If there is one already, please let me know where it is, if not, then that is my suggestion :)
I have to also add that I love this site, there is so much talent and creativity that you know everytime you login your eyes will experience something new.
