Imagekind Uploader Available for Download!
What a day! That’s right! Our bulk upload tool is now available. This beta release should definitely make uploading a lot handier for those of you who want to send multiple images at a time into your galleries.
We’ve tested this thing pretty well, but since this is the first release, there certainly could still be a few bugs. If you run across any, please tell us! Report a bug or make a comment here.
Unfortunately, at this time the Imagekind Uploader isn’t for everyone. It is only available for Windows based Operating Systems (sorry Apple/Linux based members). We do also recommend you have a fair amount of RAM in your system as well (at least 512mb), as the program resizes very large images, and that can be intensive on your computer.
*Limitations: The Uploader currently only supports TIF, JPG, and PNG files, and cannot upload images larger than 8,000 by 8,000 pixels.
Download the Imagekind Uploader right here.

Does it work on Windows 2000 Pro?
Does the bulk upload tool beta work with Mac computers?
Sarah – My guess is that it should, as long as you have the latest .NET framework available for Windows 2000 – right now the latest release for all of Windows is 3.0, but that is not available for Win 2000, so I think you just need .NET 2.0 – but give me a few hours to find out from our developer for sure and I will post back here.
Walter – Sorry, this is not available for a Mac based OS. You are out of luck for the time-being unless you run Windows with the above .NET requirements on your Mac via some Virtual PC program such as Bootcamp.
Sarah – I got answers: The Uploader should work on any Windows OS that has the latest version of the .NET 2.0 Framework. Again, .NET 3.0 is the latest from Microsoft (maybe not even a official release yet?), but it so far is UN-available for Windows 2000.
Now, we haven’t tested extensively with certain versions of .NET 2.0, so there could be some hiccups, but just let us know and we will start to formulate our options with Windows 2000. You can grab the .NET 2.0 update here:

Works like a peach, I just populated my entire Northern Lights gallery using it. Many thanks IK!
Wow James, that is a really nice gallery. I am originally from Montana and I can remember many a night with friends laying on top of cars and trucks and campers just watching the sky light up and slowly change. Great stuff.
You stated: “the program resizes very large images”.
Why? Can you explain this further?
Thanks, Travis. I will go get the Net 2.0 update and try it.
Travis, your suggestions worked great! And so does the Uploader. I really like the drag and drop functionality, a LOT. Sweet not to have to browse to everything.
Thanks for this improvement!
Mark,
This tool creates all of our previews and thumbnails for the site from your original image – then it uploads all of those little images along with your original image to the appropriate places on our servers.
So, this program takes your original (what should be a very large file), and resizes it for the purpose of creating previews.
Travis – Thank you!
I was concerned that you wouldn’t be uploading the original file at it’s original size…
I just used the uploader it and worked like a treat to upload my first gallery to IK! Just FYI, .NET 3.0 has gone official (RTM) – but, I haven’t seen nor heard much usage of it yet. One of the nice parts about .NET is the ability to have multiple versions installed and used at the same time (for instance, I have 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0 on this machine). Ok, I’m a programmer geek. I admit it.
Nice job, though – the app. worked a treat!

p.s. Mac support shouldn’t be too hard, since I assume this app. is web services based.
Hello
thanks for the uploader, it helps a lot and it is so simple and easy to handle.
Martin
P.S.: I read about the Holzbrinck “deal”. Please keep me posted about the expansion in Europe. If same quality and service will be available on the continent I would love to use it to save time and money on shipping.
Hi,
I think IK are doing a fantastic job on all fronts….we know how hard you are all working on our behalf….so this is not a criticism, more like a wish….coming from another Mac user…..hope it won’t be too long before we get our bulk uploader tool too!
(In the meantime, I’ll take your advice, Travis, and try with my Virtual PC program…)
Thanks!
