First Ever Online Art Walk

Hey artists and art fans - it’s become that time of the year when you can find great work showcased traditionally through art and craft fairs, and other summer events, walking through booths and galleries to explore what’s new and grab up some local work. Though our Seattle days start looking pretty gorgeous after the solstice, the rainy winter gave us some time to come up with a few novel ideas for showcasing our great Member Artists on Imagekind.

We are happy to announce one that made it off the drawing board, the first ever Washington State Online Art Walk, hosted by Imagekind.  We decided, after much thought, to give this kind of event it’s trial run in our own backyard.  The art walk will feature over 100 emerging and established artists from across Washington State, starting today and continuing through Sunday, August 18th, and is running in conjunction with our Non-Profit Makeover contest.

We love the idea of creating more new venues for artist to showcase their work, and modeling our community after the real world activities all working artists have proven engaging.  So take this chance to get to know some of the influences and styles that permeate and shape Washington artists and their work.  You can even take something home with you - but you don’t have to carry it around all day!

IK is certainly thinking outside the box (again)…it’s wonderful to see these new ideas developing, and hopefully bringing more traffic and sales, not only to the featured artists, but to the wider IK membership. Good luck with it - I hope it goes really well, and that we’ll see more of this kind of thing in future, covering different geographical areas (you guessed it, I’m going to bang the drum for an international art walk so that we overseas artists also get a look in!)…in the meantime, this is a fantastic idea and I wish all the Washington State artists much success!

I also really like the idea and encourage the on going creation of new projects but it is very important to keep in mind that yes there are a lot of folks from outside Washington. Being online is what makes the internet different we can do as Tanya suggested the first ever International Art Walk.

Also I just had a totally different thought. Is there someway to write a bit of software to make a widget for use on Facebook? Maybe to showcase different artists work on people profiles… a new piece everyday… or the could select artists that they like to show off to there friends… heck maybe even buy something.

There are a couple other Art widgets on there already but none of them showcase living contemporary artists.

Just a thought… the marketing brain always churning!
