Artflock – A Unique Site for Selling Original Art
As everyone probably well knows, Imagekind is a terrific way for artists to sell prints online, but we often are asked how artists can sell original works online. There are probably several venues where this can be facilitated, but one website in particular finally seems to enabling this in a very artist-centric manner, so we thought we’d share it here. The website is called ArtFlock, and it has a few nice additions to what any artist may have previously had available to them online, and some other key winning factors.
First, the site focuses on listing original artwork either for purely promotional purposes, or to actually sell on ArtFlock. All parts of any sale transaction are completely facilitated by Artflock, and the artist simply sends along the artwork to the buyer. The cut that Artflock takes of that sale is probably one of the lowest available online – only 10-25%. They also don’t charge a fee to list individual works, but rather have a free account that allows up to 200 listings.
Second, and this is the different part – ArtFlock also wants top help you administrate other aspects of working as an artist and selling originals. For instance, in addition to a regular artist statement, they have a spots for a CV, event listings, and stockists for listing where your work is showing and available elsewhere. Some of these features require a paid membership, but that cost is very low. As well, they are soon to be releasing a premium paid account that basically puts all of this functionality right into a full fledged unique website with your own domain and email service.

One last factor, and what pretty much made us take notice, is that ArtFlock is conceptually moving forward from other online services that could allow artists to sell original works. Solutions like selling originals on ebay are very impersonal, and hardly focused on bringing in art buyers. Like Imagekind, ArtFlock is designed to fit the savvy users of todays web, and functions well in that regard. They are also heavily marketing to make the site a destination for buying originals, and have had pretty good success in Europe, where they are based.
If you don’t sell or originals, don’t forget that this is another outlet where you can promote your print sales, or even sell a set of open or limited edition prints that you’ve made with us. So give it a look and let us know what you think, we’ll be watching.

Great Information! Thanks!
Cheers-
Ken
