Tons of Artist Events and Announcements
We wanted to hear a little more about what are member artists are doing outside of Imagekind, so we put out the call a little while ago. We got a great response and hope everyone keeps it up! I’m sure there’s more busy artists with lots to tell, but we encourage you to take a look at those who jumped up and decided to share right away.
It’s a diverse group of events, accomplishments, and new releases – so have fun browsing our listings, and maybe go check out some of your favorite Imagekind art in person.
Dominic Rouse released a DVD on the 23rd of August titled “The Philosopher’s Tomb”. It’s 35 minutes of a specific grouping of his photography, with a soundtrack and narration by the artist. You can read more about the film, see a preview, and even grab a copy on his web site.
Fennel Blythe has a painting and photography exhibit titled “A Visual Interpretation of Southern Wildflowers” showing at Sterling’s Gallery in Sewanee, TN. It runs through Friday, October 19th.
Arshad Ahsanuddin had 4 photographs win Special recognition in a juried online competition put on by Upstream People Gallery. His work was part of their 9th Annual Photographic Process Juried International Art Exhibition. Whew! Now that’s how you name an exhibition! He love for everyone to check out his recognized work on the Upstream People Gallery web site.
Kevin Wong is participating a group photo show along with 32 other artists at Gallery 125, in Trenton, NJ. The opening reception is this Friday, September 14th from 5-9 PM. That exhibit will run through November 3rd, and you can catch all the details on this web site.
Michael Sussna will be at the Old Town San Diego Art Festival, Saturday and Sunday, September 22nd & 23rd, each day from 10AM to 6PM. He will also be at the massive Artexpo Las Vegas from September 27th – 30th.
He’s also excited to announce 2 new soft-cover coffee table books of his work, each consisting of 80 pages spanning his work from 2001 through 2007. And to boot, he’s got a brand new 2008 calendar of his work! You can take a peek at all of this on his web site.
Kelly Olszyk has an art show and sale opening on Sunday, September 23rd, with a reception from 3 to 5 PM. It’s all happening at the Glenburn Township Building, 3110 Waterford Rd. – Dalton, PA. The show will run through October 25th; you can call 570-563-1177 for more information.
Lauren Curtis will be participating in The Highland Park, NJ 3rd Annual “Arts in The Park” juried outdoor arts festival. Thousands will be in attendance on Sunday, September 23rd at the Main Street (Raritan Ave.) in Highland Park, NJ. Lauren also has 3 photographs in the juried “My View of America” exhibit at the South Brunswick Municipal Center Gallery. That show runs though October 26th – here’s the address: 540 Rt. 522/Ridge Rd., Monmouth Jct., NJ.
Doug La Rue is putting on his first art opening in 13 years at Cafe Caffeine in Austin Texas, on Saturday, September 29th. Doug’s last show was at the Texas State Capitol Building in 1994, so this time he decided to have the show at a cafe and invite gallery owners, art buyers and fans to come see the work. The reception is from 7-9 PM, with music afterward. The show runs through the end of October at 909 West Mary St., Austin, TX; see what it’s all about on Doug’s web site.
Kimberley Walton is taking part in her first “Art Across the River” festival, on Sunday September 30th, which is sponsored by the Columbia Portland Cultural Society. It will be located outdoors on the walking bridge spanning the Delaware River, between Portland, PA and Columbia, NJ. In addition to arts, crafts and antiques, there will also be a barn tour, pumpkin painting, a car show, demonstrations, and music. The artists will be juried for cash prizes, and any interested participants or patrons can find out all they need on the event web site.
