Imagekind Launches Significant Changes to Site

  • Google Buzz

We are thrilled to announce a big day in the history of Imagekind. We have just launched a significant overhaul to the look and feel of the site. As some of you may have noticed we have been slowly rolling out landing pages with the new design over the last few weeks. Now, it’s time for our Homepage to shine.

The new look adds a greater level of sophistication and polish to our website and offers a much more immediate understanding of who we are and what we offer. As we continue to straddle web 2.0 and the retail space, we wanted our look to better reflect who we are as a brand, while offering our member artists greater exposure.

Our new homepage is much more visitor friendly:

  • Clear large images change daily and make it easy for visitors to get a quick view of what our member artists have to offer
  • Product section allows for an easy understanding of our assortment of product offerings
  • Two different Member Artists are featured daily to allow greater exposure to our community

Along with the new look comes an easier navigation. Improvements include:

  • A persistent left navigation (or A-column) allows customers and artists to better find their way around
  • A new set of steps will help guide customers through the product selection and checkout path
  • Product pages make it easier for visitors to get a good sense of all that Imagekind has to offer through better product merchandising

More changes will be happening over the next few weeks. We are thrilled about our new look and have incorporated many of the comments that we have heard from our community. We hope you like it too!

    Great Update but…

still a little worried about the search engine.

Things seem to be ok from the “Advanced Search”, but from the front page box things aren’t so good.

Try a “London” search and it only gives 22 results, While “London Big Ben” gives 2000+.

The standard way this kind of engine works is to give fewer results for more search terms, as you drill down to what you’re looking for, an “AND” search. This seems to be an “OR” search, unless you use a single word, then it produces and “Artist” search.

I’m a professional photographer that uses image based websites on a daily basis. If I can’t understand it, how can potential customers?

… and how will they find my images!!!

Thanks Karine! We’re glad you like it.

Thanks for the feedback Alan. We didn’t make any changes to the search in this update, so it shouldn’t have changed from our most recent update to the search feature. We are constantly taking into consideration how we can improve, and hope to keep doing just that.

I think the new look is awesome and gives the site new life. Are there plans to carry some of that over to the individual pages for customers?

Thanks Rick! We look at all options on how we can continue to improve. All suggestions on how we can do that better are always welcome.

Can’t get to individual photos in my gallery or even upload from my PC. Could yesterday. Am using a Mac w/ Firefox. Whenever I try one of the above actions, I enter a never-ending loop of “waiting for upload.imagekind.com.” Am I the only one with this problem?

Olditer, is this still happening? I haven’t heard anyone else mention this. It might be best to send an email to our care team.

    Thanks!

Cant even login from my mac using firefox or Safari. (using OS X Tiger)

If I try to log in, it takes me to the main page, and Im still not logged in.

So then I click login again, but it takes me…not to the login page again, but refreshes the main page Im on.

    This is kind of disappointing.

Home page looks nice, but not much if you cant access account.

Obviously from the replies this is not to common of a problem I take it.

Thanks in advance for the help

    Peace

That is strange dAlen, I have not heard of that problem before.

We have had the updates launched for awhile now and have worked out most of the bugs.

Send an email to care@imagekind.com so we can try and get this worked out for you.

    Thanks,

    Nate
