Moonblind
I've never had breakfast at Tiffany's, but then again I don't think anybody ever has. But what do I know? Despite my years spent in the raucous sprawling circus that is New York, I've never been there. But then again I've never been much of a jewelry person. Oh sure, when I was a wild young thing it was chokers and bracelets and earrings, especially when on stage, but that didn't last long. Sporting all those heavy chains and ropes of semi-precious jewels got old; all that clinking and clanking and getting combs and clothing caught on metal wasn't worth whatever impression I thought I was making. These days I'm more concerned with beautifying my personality rather than my flesh that - as does everything mortal - continues to slide into the abyss of age. I speak of this because the other night I walked down by the river that runs to sea. The moon that night was a molten medallion of silver, shining both in the sky and in the rippled wavelets of the river. And all I could think of was the song from that movie, and I began singing it, and that pulled me into a place I didn't want to be, for I'd come to walk by the river that runs to sea to forget life, not to remember it. The song is a fantasy of desire and possibility never realized, and that is a perfect map of my own journey. I turned around and headed home; my mission, to lose myself in the charms of moonlight, the magick of water, not accomplished. ~ copyright 2015 RC deWinter
