This Saturday, Join Imagekind and COLOURlovers for a Gallery Event to Celebrate an Update

December 6th, 2007 travis 1 comment
Colourlovers Version 3 Launch Event with Imagekind
Rake Art Gallery  325 NW 6th, Portland OR

If you haven’t read about it here before, COLOURlovers is a thriving community of color fanatics made up of designers, decorators, artists, and many other color fans looking for inspiration and serious palette making tools, or just trend spotting.  We’ve recommended their web site before as being neatly useful and fun, and the word has spread.

Around this time last year they released a first major version update (version "Coup.0") full of new tools and features to keep the love flowing.  Darius Monsef, the COLOURlovers founder, celebrated this growth by taking what he could from the virtual world and letting people experience it firsthand.  Well, it’s one year later and the community has swelled, and along with it came a clamor of new ideas, so now the color loving gang is back with another major revision.

With this newest release, lovingly code named "Version Weee.0", they’ll showcase some incredible new ways to create with color.  We share their enthusiasm for taking a virtual creation, making it real, and putting it right in your hands (or right on your walls).  So this year we offered to help Darius celebrate with another gallery event – but this time Imagekind is creating all the physical pieces, on demand – as is our usual style, for the crowd of color gawkers to interact with!  We think it’s a great way to showcase what Imagekind can do, and celebrate with some very ambitious and creative people down the road.

That particular road is a bit harder to travel these days, but rest assured we’ll be there, so join us at Rake Art Gallery for an evening of creative and fun color interaction, music, drinks, edibles and an artwork raffle. Event proceeds will benefit HODR.org, a volunteer staffed disaster relief non-profit.

We hope to see you there!

EBSQ – Art of the Equestrian Contest

November 9th, 2007 travis No comments

Imagekind is happy to announce the results of the joint cooperation with EBSQ in their online juried art show, Art of the Equestrian. We want to thank EBSQ for this amazing opportunity to help expand, encourage and promote a genuine arts community. You can check out the winner, read about the jurors and find all the amazing artwork here, in Imagekind’s Newsletter. And of course, all submissions are available as museum quality art prints right here, at Imagekind – offered, as always, at the artist’s own price. Thank you to all the artists for doing what you do best! Keep creating, showing and selling that work!

If you happened to miss any of the information about the show, you can read about it in Imagekind’s Blog. It turned out to be an amazing show and we are truly grateful for the opportunity to partner with EBSQ to showcase the happenings.

We are happy to announce Debbie Lincoln as the grand prize winner of the event. As the winner, Debbie will receive:

  • 100 Dollar Gift Certificate, good for anything you can create or buy on Imagekind.
  • A free one year membership for Imagekind at the Platinum level.
  • A free Media Kit of Imagekind’s fine paper samples and one free print on her choice of paper at any size.

Debbie will also be an upcoming Featured Artist for one week on Imagekind’s homepage. Congratulations Debbie and a huge thank you to all the artists who participated to make this juried show a huge success and great adventure!

FTP Uploads Change Location One Last Time

October 31st, 2007 travis 1 comment

As of 5PM PST today, all older directories previously available for uploading to your Imagekind galleries via FTP will cease to be accessible.  The one exception to this will be our most recent IP address : 74.86.92.3  -which will still work as normal.

Many of our long-time members may be familiar with a few different addresses which they could use for access, however, we are moving over to a shiny new DNS based access point, which will stay in place, regardless of any changes Imagekind makes in the future.  This means you remember one easy location – we’ll take it from there.  You can start using it anytime you want, it’s ready now, though any older addresses referenced above will cease working around 5pm.  Images currently inside those directories will not be affected.

The correct access info for utilizing Imagekind’s FTP directory to move files into your galleries, from this point on is as follows:

IP/Host address: uploads.imagekind.com
Username: memberupload
Password: iprintmoney

This directory, like all others before it is secure and locked – not even you can remove, or change your file in any way once it’s on our server.

You can always reference this information again anytime, as well as learn about using FTP for those who are new to this protocol, from inside your “My Admin” area on our regular web-based upload page, or on the following page:

http://www.imagekind.com/create/upload.aspx

Please keep in mind that you must email care@imagekind.com and reference your specific Imagekind screen name, image filenames, and which of your galleries you want the images placed into.  If you do not receive a response, it’s likely your email hasn’t reached us for some reason, so do try sending it again, or give a call.  If you don’t get in touch with us, your images won’t make it!

Imagekind Scheduled Updates and Downtime

October 4th, 2007 travis No comments

Every once in a while some spring cleaning needs to be done in the fall.  Imagekind is adding some significant new firepower to our technical arsenal, and will be experiencing some planned downtime tonight at 8PM Pacific Time, through 12AM (Midnight).

The main Imagekind web site will be unavailable during that time period, but our ever popular Imagekind Forum and your’s truly Imagekind Blog will still be around and ready for you.  If you haven’t taken a good look at either, now might just be the perfect time to see what they’re all about.

We’ll be posting any updates right here, so tune in if you’re up late with us (or very early) and we’ll see you on the other side!

Imagekind Forum Undergoing Maintenance

September 27th, 2007 travis No comments

We had planned to make an earlier announcement regarding scheduled downtime of our Imagekind Forum, for a much-needed oil change.  Unfortunately, we had some issues today, and had to put up a placeholder earlier than expected.

We’ll be looking into some issues over the next few hours, and the Forum may be available again for the next 2 days.  It is likely, however, that we will utilize this downtime for updates, and get everything back up and running, better than ever, sometime this weekend.

Status updates will be posted here.  Thanks for your patience everyone!

—Update:

The Imagekind Forum has it’s legs back under it, but the release of the better, faster, stronger version is still going to be a few hours away.  If you notice anything strange, please let us know, and we’ll be updating you all when we need to to go back down for a short time to move over to the newest version.  Thanks again for waiting!
