Create your Heart Out at Imagekind

Thanks for all of your great submissions for the art contest, Create your Heart Out! We had an amazing number of fantastic artists submit their heart and heart-inspired artwork and we can’t wait to share the winner of the contest with you. So, stay alert for Imagekind’s Valentine Day promo email highlighting the selected artists’ work.

We had a lot of fun putting this together and even more fun checking out all the great work. We hope to bring you more fun and creative contests in the future so more artists can participate, share and show their artwork! So, keep creating!

A huge thanks to all the artists who participated in the contest. With nearly 4,000 views, we think this was a huge success and hope you had just as much fun with it as we did. But now the hard part comes: choosing which one of the images to feature! Wish us luck in this difficult task!

We are always looking for great ideas and want to know what interests our members. Who knows, if it interests us, we might just be able to help you broadcast it to the world.

The Art of Cartography: Creating the New Way

December 17th, 2007 1 comment

I have a street map of Seattle hung on the wall in my room. It is nothing fancy, really. In fact, it’s quite the opposite: basic and simplistic, an aerial view of the city with street and neighborhood names. For some time now, for reasons known only to my subconscious, I have been extremely fascinated with maps. I think it is a combination of knowing where I am in the world and knowing how much more is out there to explore. When you view a map of a place you are familiar with, whether it is your local neighborhood, city, state, country or even the world, it is near impossible not to get the sense of fascination with not only the interconnectedness of everything, but also the mystery of places you can see on the map, but maybe never have, nor ever will get the chance to see in real life.
